Happy Friday everyone!
The children
have worked extremely hard creating a non-chronological report on sharks. They
included expanded nouns and conjunctions.
In maths,
the children solved numerus calculations using multiplication and division.
Next week
English – the
children will practise a SATS comprehension paper along with grammar and
spelling.
Maths – the children
will solve maths problems choosing their own method to solve the questions.
We will be
finishing all our topics for this term.
On Tuesday,
during the morning we will watch the KS2 performance.
On Thursday,
we have our Great Fire of London workshop day.

Good afternoon, it’s unbelievable how the weeks are just flying by and it’s Friday again!
In English, the children have been researching and
learning lots of interesting facts about sharks. With their notes, they have
written the children next week will write their report on sharks, including
expanded nouns and conjunctions.
In maths the children having been learning
multiplication using arrays. We will continue learning commutativity
multiplication using different strategies next week.
Next week
Science – On Tuesday, the children will attend a
science workshop.
D&T – to create a Picasso painting-using water
paints.
RE- to sequence the Easter story.
Geography – to locate various countries and capital
cities using a globe, atlas and iPad.
Spellings for Friday are:
Group 1 – their, there, they’re
Group 2 – action, fiction, section, nation,
station, position.
Group 3 – solution, imagination, reception,
multiplication.
Reminder – Great Fire of London workshop is on
Thursday 30th March. Please could the children dress up, here are
some ideas:
Boys – plain t-shirt (with or without a collar) a
belt or cord around the waist, plain waistcoat and flat cap (if you have one)
and school trousers tucked in their socks.
Girls – plain white shirt with a collar, long plain
skirt or dress (black, brown or dark blue), a plain waistcoat (if you have
one), an apron or use a white pillowcase and for their head white material tied
around their head to hide the hair.

Hello everyone!
Wow, another very busy week in Year 2.
Firstly, the children as I am sure you would agree produced a
fantastic assembly this morning. They projected their voices and used expression
along with actions, well done Year 2.
The children had an amazing fun time at the snow centre on
Tuesday.
On ‘Maths Day’ the children learnt the vertices, faces, surfaces and edges of 2D and 3D shapes and created shapes using straws, geoboards and 3D nets.
We also visited Christ Church and the children carried out lots
of fun activities.
In English the children will start their topic on non-chronological report. They will research sharks and gather notes along with writing facts for their report writing next week.
In maths, the children will be learning patterns and strategies to 2s,3s, 5s and 10s-time tables. This will include recall and
use of multiplication and division facts.
In RE, the chlldren will sequence the Easter story.
In science, the children will complete a variety of exercises and discuss what happens to their body, heart beat and pulse.
In geography, we will be looking at the physical and human features of Cape Town.
Spellings for Friday are:
Group 1 – their, there, they’re
Group 2 – wasp, squash, swap, wander, watching, swan
Group 3 – wallet, swallow, squabble, quality
Mrs Chapman left today to have her bundle of joys and said
she will be in touch. We look forward to seeing her and her gorgeous babies
soon, ‘Happy Maternity Leave!’
