Good afternoon to all!

Next Week’s Learning

English – The children will edit for spellings against the success criteria on their narratives inspired by The Dragon Machine, checking their writing includes expanded noun phrases, past tense verbs, conjunctions and exciting vocabulary. Then the children will re write their edited version in their neatest handwriting.

Maths – We will start our new topic on Statistics, focusing on:

·                Tally charts

·                Tables

·                Block diagrams

·                Pictograms

Science – We will continue to be learning about life cycles and observing the growth of our sunflowers.

RE – We will continue exploring stories from different faiths.

Art – The children will be creating their 3D clay house tiles.

History – We will identify similarities and differences between medical care in the Victoria era and medical care now.

Spellings for Next Friday  

Group 1: any, many, water, kind.

Group 2: Megan’s, the girl’s, the boy’s, the child’s, the man’s, the woman’s, the school’s, a dog’s, a teacher’s, a postman’s.

Reminder – Wednesday at 3pm, it is open afternoon where you will have the opportunity to come into the classroom and share your child’s learning with them.

Happy Friday everyone!

The children have worked incredibly hard across all subjects this week – well done to them all!

Next Week’s Learning

English – We will be writing our own narratives inspired by The Dragon Machine. The children will include expanded noun phrases, past tense verbs, conjunctions and exciting vocabulary in their writing.

Maths – We will continue learning about time, focusing on:

  • past the hour
  • to the hour
  • five-minute intervals
  • minutes in an hour

Home Learning – Please continue to support your child by asking them to tell the time throughout the week. Thank you for your support.

Science – We will be learning about life cycles and observing the growth of our sunflowers.

RE – We will continue exploring stories from different faiths.

Art – The children will be creating their 3D clay house tiles.

History – We will order and summarise the key events in the life of Florence Nightingale.

Good afternoon everyone,

We have had another busy and productive week in class, and the children have worked incredibly hard—well done to all!

Looking ahead to next week:

English – We will be planning and writing our own narratives inspired by The Dragon Machine, focusing on using verbs, suffixes and adverbs effectively.

Maths – We will continue our work on fractions, with a focus on recognising three-quarters and whole numbers. We will also begin a new topic on time, learning o’clock and half past.

Science – Our focus will be on the life cycles of plants. We will take part in an observational walk around the school grounds and continue monitoring the growth of our sunflowers.

RE – We will be exploring a range of faith stories.

History – We will learn about how Florence Nightingale improved conditions at the Scutari hospital.
