Please see below ideas for costumes for our workshop on The Great Fire of London on Thursday 6th February.

Boys clothing: white top. grey trousers tucked in socks, black waistcoat and flat cap.
Girls clothing: either black, brown, dark blue skirt. White top, shawl and apron (this could be a pillowcase).

We have extra clothes in the classroom for the children if this helps.

Hello to all, we have had a great week. The children have worked extremely hard creating their own version of 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff', they have included recurring language and exclamation marks.
In maths the children enjoyed learning and discussing a variety of block graphs,pictograms and tally charts.

Next week

English - the children will learn and sequence the story of 'The Enormous Turnip'. We will be looking at the recurring language, grammar and punctuation.

Maths - the children will add 2-digit numbers and tens grouping and re grouping using concrete resources and pictorial representations.

Science - we will be discussing healthy eating.

D&T - the children will chop up their chosen fruit and create a fruit kebab.

History - the children will find out why the fire spread so quickly and stayed alight for so long.

Spellings for next Friday are:

Group 1 - as, no, mum, one.
Group 2 - I'm, I've, let's, can't, it's, I'll, didn't, who's.
Group 3 - they're, couldn't, hasn't, we've.

Inside your child's book bag is a KS1 English comprehension booklet.
Please could your child complete pages 2 and 3, and return the booklet by Thursday for me to mark. Your child may require support in reading the text and questions.

Welcome back, the children have settled quickly back into routine and full of energy.

Next week

History – we will discuss when and where the Great Fire of London started.

D&T – the children will design their fruit kebab.

Science – the children will describe how animals change as they grow.

Happy New Year! I hope you all had an amazing fun Christmas.

Please see below the lessons for the first full week and an insight into the topics to be covered in this term.

English - our topic starts with stories with recurring literacy language. Our first traditional story will be The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The children will role play and create their own version of this story over two weeks.

Maths - the children will be looking at statistics. During the first full week they will be totalling and comparing amounts in block graphs, creating pictograms, tables and tally charts.

Science - our topic is animals, including humans. The children will discuss and observe that animals, including humans have offspring which grow into adults, by describing the changes to animals as they grow.

History - the topic is on the Great Fire of London. We will start the topic by introducing where and when the Great Fire of London started.

D&T - the topic is preparing fruit and vegetables. The children will discuss fruit and vegetables and investigate a variety of fruit and vegetables to understand where a range of fruit and vegetables come from.

ICT - the children will develop familiarity and typing skills with the computer and keyboard along with, understanding that the internet contains a large amount of information and recognise the need to use search tools and search engines to begin to find information.

PSHE - the topic is Dreams and Goals, encouraging the children to stay motivated when doing something challenging. The children will identify their successes and know how this makes them feel proud.

RE - the children will be learning different ways of giving thanks to God. They will discuss where they like to go that is special to you? The children will discuss and draw their special place. Within the term we will visit Little Heath Christ Church.

Home learning

Following on the topic of puppets. I would like the children to create a small moving puppet of their choice. We have looked at lots of different ideas. The children will discuss their character and materials they have used to the class.

Date for the puppets to be in by is Wednesday 12^th February.

On Thursday 6^th February we will have a workshop and actors visiting us centred on our history topic The Great Fire of London. We do require parent helpers please either for the morning, afternoon or all day to support us with the activities. Please let me know if you available.

It's Christmas !!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much for our generous gifts it was extremely kind of you all,  we have been very spoilt.

 Christmas is definitely nearly here!!!

The children have been really excited this week, there has been so much going on!

I hope you enjoyed the children's performance of 'Lights, Camel, Action!'. They worked really, really hard and I'm sure you will agree it was worth it, they were brilliant!

Next week, the children will learn to write a calligram which will be centred around Christmas.

We will finish off our topics in RE and Geography.

In maths, we will have an area with objects labelled with prices and the children will have money and will need to give the correct change to consolidate our learning.

Wednesday afternoon is our Christmas party, a snack and drink will be provided. Children can bring in clothes to change into.

Thursday, we have been invited to visit the Christchurch for Christmas activities.

Friday, the children will watch the pantomime Dick Whittington.

Please remember we finish at 2pm on Friday.

Please check your child's book bag for spellings to learn over the Christmas holidays.

Hello all,

The children have been rehearsing for the Christmas production and are very much looking forward to next week when they can perform to yourselves.

In maths, the children completed numerous problem-solving activities and in English, they wrote a personal recount.

Next week, we will be learning coin recognition by solving problems in a practical context and finishing off the hand and finger puppets.

Tuesday, Christmas performance to parents 9.30am.

Wednesday, Christmas performance to parents 1.30pm.

Thursday, Christmas performance to parents 9.30am. Also, the children will have Christmas dinner and watch a movie in the afternoon.

Friday, Christmas Jumper Day.
