Good afternoon to all.

We had an amazing Great Fire of London day on Thursday. I would like to particularly thank all our helpers for their time and support, we really could not have completed all the activities without you. The children carried out numerous tasks including role play and learnt a lot of exciting facts. The children all looked fantastic and were extremely well behaved. Please see below some photos the majority will be displayed on the wall in the classroom.

On Tuesday afternoon we are going to the snow centre and hope to be back at school around 3.40 pm. The children will come to school in school uniform and change into their snow clothes at lunchtime.

Spellings for Friday are:

Group 1: see, looked, very.

Group 2: fattest, saddest, hummed, running, clapped, patted.

Group 3: suddenly, slipped, runny, honey.

From the Year 2 team

Hello to all, we have had another very busy, fun, active week in Year 2.

In English the children wrote their own version of The Enormous Turnip, they used their imagination and created a very different detailed version.

Next week, the children will be writing shape poems. They will be looking at calligrams and acoustic poems centred on The Great Fire of London.

In maths the children used bar modelling to solve their problems.

Next week, the children will be solving maths problems with addition and subtraction applying their knowledge of metal and written methods.

In science the children identified healthy and unhealthy foods and created a healthy eating power point.

Next week, the children will research carbohydrates, protein, fruit and vegetables.

In history the children enjoyed learning and researching Samuel Pepys, they created a mind map and wrote sentences following what they had learnt.

On Thursday we have our visitors coming into school. The children will be carrying out various activities centred on the Great Fire of London. If you are a helper during the day, please feel free to dress up to!

Good afternoon to all,
The children have worked extremely hard this week in all the topics. In English they enjoyed reading and performing the story of The Enormous Turnip. In maths the children completed sums learning the written method in column and tens frame.

Next week

English - the children will write their own version of The Enormous Turnip and include recurring language.

Maths - the children will solve problems using the cuisenaire rods.

Science - we will learn and discuss a balanced diet and different types of food and hygiene.

D&T - the children will create fruit kebabs, naming and using the correct utensils and vocabulary.

ICT - the children will research where different types of fruit are grown.

History - discuss Samuel Pepys' diary.

Group 2 - shine, shiny, scare, scary, bone, bony, stone, stony, smoke, smoky.
