Good afternoon,

It was lovely to see so many of you for parent consultations this week and discuss how fantastically your children have done this year.

Next week

English, our topic is explanations. We will be focusing our lessons on a monster robot, who comes to life.

Maths, the children will learn the language of position and complete various activities on direction and shape patterns with turns.

Science, the children will identify how an animal is suited to its habitat and explain how living things in a habitat depend on each other.

PSHE, this week we have looked at life cycles and the stages of childhood.

Next week, we will be discussing the difference between girls and boys bodies. The children will learn the correct vocabulary for the body parts. 

On Friday morning, the children will have a fun time learning circus skills.

 Reminder

Monday is sharing assembly at 9.00 for LV.

Good afternoon to all!

The children had a great time at sports day; please see below a few photos of the fun morning.











Next week

English – the children will finish planning and write their myth stories.

Maths – focus is statistics, the children will carry out activities using pictogram, block and tally charts.

History – to learn about their chosen famous person

Science – to have a nature walk around the field and observe their bug hotels

PSHE – to recognize how their bodies have changed since a baby

RE- to discuss the story of Diwali

Hello to everyone and happy Friday!

The children have worked very hard this week in all their subjects. They thoroughly enjoyed racing their moving vehicles down the ramp outside the Foundation unit, as you can see below.







The children have been extremely creative, they have built a 3D model of a famous building with plasticine, along with 
creating a bug hotel which they have hidden in the woodland area, for their science project and will regularly monitor to see if they have any visitors.

Next week

English - to create their own myth story.

Maths - to learn symmetry and patterns in shapes.

Science - to carry out a mini-beast survey 

History - to research Mary Seacole to find out what she was famous for.

RE – to listen to creation stories

Please remember KS1 sports day is on Thursday at 9.15am.

Hello everyone, I hope you had a lovely break.

The children have settled very quickly back into their daily routine.

In English, the children enjoyed writing an apology letter to Pandora.

In maths, the children drew arrays to solve their multiplication sums.

Please see below, a brief insight of the topics we will be covering next term.

English - Myths, children will write a letter in first person centred on ‘Pandora's Box’ and create their own myth story.

Explanations, children will create an explanation text on looking after and playing with pets.

Poetry, children will create a nature poem.

Maths - Multiplication and division, geometry, symmetry, problem solving, angles and place value.

Science - Living things and their habitats.

History - Continuing our topic on Florence Nightingale and then we will look at famous people. 

Art - Japanese artist ‘Hokusai’.

PSHE - Changing me.

RE - Exploring religions within the community and researching, who made the world.

 ICT - Recording using the iPad, keyboard skills creating a graph and decoding.

Next week

English – the children will start to create their own myth story.

Maths – the topic is geometry, we will be discussing and naming 2D and 3D shapes and their properties.

Science – the children will explore outside in the playground animals in their habitats and create a bug hotel. Please could we have any empty plastic water bottles for the children to use to make their ‘bug hotels’ to place around the school field to monitor and observe frequently to see if any insects have arrived!

RE – the children will be investigating - who made the world?

PSHE – children will express how they feel when change happens, growing from young to old.

Art – recreate the wave from one of the artist Hokusai’s paintings using clay

Group 2 – to, two, too, sea, see, bee, blue, sun, son

Group 3 – quite, quiet, there, they’re, their, night, knight

Home learning – to write about your favourite reading book. 

Please include: the title and the author of your book. What is the book about? What is your favourite part of the story and why? Did you enjoy the ending? If not what ending would you write instead and draw a picture. 

To be handed in please by Friday 14th July.

 Good afternoon,

The children have worked extremely hard this week and produced lovely writing in their recount of their favourite memory in the dark and they have also written a myth story.

In maths, the children have recapped time along with measuring lengths in centimetres and metres.

 Hello everyone!

We have had another extremely busy week, the children have completed all their SATS papers, well done everyone!

During the week, the children created their moving vehicles apart from a few finishing touches!

Next week

English - the children will write about a good memory that they had in the dark. This is following on from our class book 'The owl who is afraid of the dark'. The children will include descriptive language with a good exciting opening sentence.

Maths - Problem solving involving multiplication and division.

Science - to write up the children's observations following the growth of their sunflowers over the last few weeks.

RE - to learn and discuss the faith story  'The Loaves and Fishes'.

D&T - to evaluate their moving vehicles.

Spellings for next Friday are:

Group 1 - in, he, I, of, it.

Group 2 - illness, sadness, kindness, enjoyment, payment, amazement.

Group 3 - quietness, closeness, measurement, entertainment.

 Hello everyone!

Wow, this week has flown by, I can't believe it's Friday again!

The children have completed both English comprehension papers and next week they will complete two maths papers, grammar and spelling papers. ( The children will think it is another practise paper to help  with my planning so they are unaware and will not worry).

Next week

English, we will start our class book on 'The owl who was afraid of the dark'. The children will create a sense poem including adjectives and write a good memory that they can remember in the dark.

Maths, lessons will be centred on revision.

History, the children will role play the differences in medical care today and in Victorian times.

Science the children will observe and discuss the growth in their sunflowers.

PSHE, we will be discussing friendships.

D&T, the children will make the wooden frame (chassis) for their moving vehicles.

Spellings will start next week, once SATS has finished.

Just a reminder, it is walk to school week. Please encourage your child to walk/scooter/cycle to school.
