Good afternoon at all!

The children have been extremely creative, they have built their moving vehicles which they are all very proud of.





In English the children created instructions on how to plant a seed using time adverbials and imperative verbs. We will continue instructions next week, which will be based on the story ‘The Woolly Mammoth’.

In maths, the children have been learning to tell the time (quarter past, quarter to, half past, o clock and to 5 minutes. We will continue with time next week,

Home Learning – please keep asking your child the time throughout the day to support their learning in class.

In ICT, we are continuing programming and looking at designing algorithms.

On Tuesday we are all very excited about going to Go Ape for the day.

Please could your child bring in a packed lunch in a disposable bag and no fizzy drinks.

Happy sunny Friday!

The children have worked very hard in all their topics, especially on their story about something exciting that happens at night time.

Next week

In English, we are looking at instructions using sequenced language to order events and command verbs. The children will write an instruction on ‘How to plant a seed’.

In maths, we are starting our new topic on time. The children will learn the o’clock and half past, quarter past and quarter to along with telling the time past and to the hour.

In D&T, the children will paint and decorate their moving vehicles. Once the vehicles are finished the children will evaluate their moving vehicles against their original design and we will have a race.

In science we will continue to observe and discuss the growth of the sunflowers planted both inside and outside of the classroom.

In history, the children will order and summarise events in the life of Florence Nightingale.

Good afternoon to all!

This week, the children had a lovely afternoon planting numerous seeds and learning how to look after them. They also enjoyed programming and sequencing different algorithms using the Beebots.

In English, the children wrote about an exciting memory they had, when it was night time.

Next week, the children will write their own story about something that happens at night time in the first person, they will include descriptive and subordinating language.

In maths, the children have learnt unit and non-unit fractions along with recognizing two quarters and three quarters.

Next week, we will continue learning three quarters and a whole using concrete materials (fruit, cubes, coins).

Next week

RE – to explore a Christian charity.

PSHE – t discuss showing respect in how to treat others and how to recognise and appreciate people.

Science – to observe the seeds which have been planted.

D&T – to build the chassis of the moving vehicles.

On Friday’s we will also be practising our 2, 5, 10 times table.

Happy Friday!

The children have all worked extremely hard on all their topics this week, well done everyone!

In English, the children enjoyed listening to and analyzing the text of ‘The owl who is afraid of the dark’. They have written a detailed exciting memory which they have experienced in the dark.

Next week, we will finish our class book and the children will write about which chapter they preferred and why?

In maths, the children have solved numerous fractions using ½, 1/3, ¼ of an amount and shape.

Next week, we will continue our topic on fractions and discuss the equivalence of a half and two quarters and three-quarters. Maths day is on Wednesday and the children will be carrying out activities on statistics and data handling creating different graphs.

Next week

History – to continue to discuss how Florence Nightingale improved the conditions at the Scutari hospital.

Science – the children will plant various seeds along with sweetcorn and carrots.

ICT – we will look at programming and the children will sequence instructions using the Beebots.

D&T – to continue to design their moving vehicle. Reminder - Please could your children bring in any small cardboard boxes to use for their vehicle.

Hello everyone and I hope you all had a lovely Easter break.

The children have settled very quickly into the daily routine, they have worked extremely hard in all their lessons and especially on their handwriting and letter formation.

Please see below an insight of the topics being taught this term.

English – we will start with our take one book ‘The owl who is afraid of the dark’, which the children are already enjoying, followed by poetry and instructions.

Maths – our topics are fractions and time.

Science -our topic is plants.

History - our topic is Florence Nightingale.

RE - we will start with showing care and concern. The children will be involved with discussion on how faith stories guide people and how we live together when we are all different.

D&T - our topic is mechanisms; wheels and axles. The children will create a moving vehicle.

  If you have any small cardboard boxes at home (shoe box or smaller), please could your child bring them into school for their moving vehicle. 

PSHE - our topic is relationships. The children will discuss how to make friends, solve friendship problems and respect each other.
