It's Christmas !!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much for our generous gifts it was extremely kind of you all,  we have been very spoilt.

 Christmas is definitely nearly here!!!

The children have been really excited this week, there has been so much going on!

I hope you enjoyed the children's performance of 'Lights, Camel, Action!'. They worked really, really hard and I'm sure you will agree it was worth it, they were brilliant!

The children enjoyed their Christmas dinner, below are some photographs.

















Next week, the children will learn to write a calligram which will be centred around Christmas.

We will finish off our topics in RE and Geography.

In maths, we will have an area with objects labelled with prices and the children will have money and will need to give the correct change to consolidate our learning.

Wednesday afternoon is our Christmas party, a snack and drink will be provided. Children can bring in clothes to change into.

Thursday, we have been invited to visit the Christchurch for Christmas activities.

Friday, the children will watch the pantomime Dick Whittington.
Please remember we finish at 2pm on Friday.

Please check your child's book bag for spellings to learn over the Christmas holidays.

Hello all,

The children have been rehearsing for the Christmas production and are very much looking forward to next week when they can perform to yourselves.

In maths, the children completed numerous problem-solving activities and in English, they wrote a personal recount.

Next week, we will be learning coin recognition by solving problems in a practical context and finishing off the hand and finger puppets.

Please see the following dates and times below for next week:

Monday, the children will perform their Christmas show to the school.
Tuesday, Christmas performance to parents 9.30am.
Wednesday, Christmas performance to parents 1.30pm.
Thursday, Christmas performance to parents 9.30am. Also, the children will have Christmas dinner and watch a movie in the afternoon.
Friday, Christmas Jumper Day.

Spellings for next Friday are:
Group 1:be, like, some, so.
Group 2: one, won, hear, here, sun, son, be, bee, see, sea.
Group 3: bear, bare, new, knew.

Good afternoon to all,

We have had a fun week practising our show which is coming together extremely well,we have some great singers and dancers in Year 2.

There is an art competition that the children are aware of. I have been given out a copy of the letter and asked for them to be returned to school by Thursday 12th December. The children have to draw a festive picture with a train included. Please ensure your child takes part. All drawings will be displayed and there are also prizes to win!

Next week

English – The children will write a personal recount.

Maths – The children will learning the inverse to find missing numbers in problems.

During the afternoons, the children will be practising for their Christmas show.

Spellings for next Friday are:
Group 1: there, this, have, went.
Group 2 : race, city, ice, pencil, site, once.
Group 3: all of the above and celery, circle, cycle, face.

Hello all!

We have had a fun week practising our Christmas show and learning the songs during our English lessons, they are starting to sound amazing.

In maths we completed numerous activities to find the nearest multiple to 10.

Next Week

English – We will be reading ‘Dogger’ and the children will create a wanted poster and list adverbs of time.

Maths – We will be identifying parts and whole numbers using Cuisenaire rods and cherry models, along with using inverse to find the missing numbers.

Geography – We will explore the physical features of Edinburgh and Cape Town.

We will continue to practise our Christmas show, please could the children practise their lines over the weekend.

Spellings for next week are:
Group 1 – there, this, have.
Group 2 – jar, jacket, village, huge, badge, edge, giant, giraffe.
Group 3 – language, porridge, shortage and all of the above.

Hello Year 2,

The childrens hair styles looked amazing today, full of colour and glitter celebrating 
'Children in Need'.







We have been busy preparing the costumes for our Christmas Production! We have many of the costumes already. If your child needs a costume a letter will be sent home next week explaining what is needed.

For English we wrote a class poem about 'Anti-Bullying.' The children worked in groups and each one came up with a line for the poem. The children also wrote an explanation on, what a bicycle is?

The children completed their mosaic pictures, which look amazing! They will be on display in the corridor outside our classroom.

Next week

English we will be practising our Christmas show.

Maths the children will be doubling numbers and find the nearest multiple to 10.

Our focus will be on ‘Just Talk’ for mental health week. I will be reading numerous books promoting well-being which will generate lots of discussion.

On Friday it is mufti-day for our Christmas Cafe, please could your child bring in an item of Christmas food to put in the Christmas hamper.

Group 1: my, her, what, out.
Group 2: with, father, class, pass, plant, bath.

Hello,

In English, the children learnt how to write an explanation text. We looked at a variety of texts and discussed the layout and present tense. The children created their own explanation text on how to work a pencil sharpener.

Next week, the children will write an explanation text showing the stages and process of riding a bicycle along with a labelled diagram and flow chart on how bicycles move.

In maths the children learnt to re-balance when adding and subtracting numbers by 9 and 11.

Next week, the children will recall number bonds and add and subtract using multiples of 10 within measure.

In geography the children learnt what a city is and identified some major capital cities around the world.

Next week they will explore the features of a city.

In science the children enjoyed investigating and observing the changes in ice.

Next week the children will learn what Charles Macintosh created.

In RE, we will discuss the celebration of Hanukkah.

Spellings for next Friday are:
Group 1: can, are, up, had.
Group 2: to, too, two, fast, last, past.

On Tuesday we will be having an 'Odd Socks' day for anti-bullying day, so the children may come to school in crazy wacky odd socks.

On Friday the 16th of November we will be supporting Children in Need. We will also be holding a non-uniform and crazy hair day in exchange for £1 on Friday in aid of Children in Need.
