Good afternoon,

Please see below a brief insight of the topics we will be covering next term.

English
Explanations, children will create an explanation text on playing with pets.
Myths, children will create an ending from the story ‘Boy with wings’ and write a letter in first person centred on ‘Pandora's Box’.
Poetry, children will create a nature poem.

Maths
Multiplication and division, geometry, symmetry, problem solving, angles and place value.

Science
Living things and their habitats.

History
Famous people and Florence Nightingale.

Art
Japanese artist ‘Hokusai’.

PSHE
Changing me.

RE
Exploring religions within the community and researching, who made the world.

ICT
Recording using the iPad, keyboard skills, decoding, create and amend graphs.

Hello all,

The children have worked extremely hard on their sats, this will continue next week.

In science the children learnt the life cycle of sunflowers and next week they will observe and describe the growth of different plants.

In RE the children discussed, why we need rules and next week the children will discuss what makes human beings so unique.

The children are very much enjoying creating their moving vehicles and next week we aim to
finish these and carry out a race!

On Wednesday next week it is open afternoon from 3.00 to 4.30pm. This will give you the opportunity to come into the classroom and look at your child’s books.
Spellings for next Friday are:

Group 1: asked, saw, make, an.
Group 2: metal, animal, magical, hospital, model, wheel, parallel, jewel, whole, smile, vehicle.

Good afternoon Year 2,

In English this week, the children enjoyed learning prefixes and suffixes and they practised a sats paper.
Next week the children will sit their sats paper, (the children will think it is another practise, so they are unaware and will not worry).

In maths the children learnt and completed activities of the properties of 3D shapes and we revisited fractions and symmetry.
Next week we will create lessons on questions children were unsure of on a practise paper.
Pre-Learning: recall multiplication of 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

In science the children explained and drew the life cycle of plants along with understanding plants are living things.
Next week the children will find out and describe how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy by comparing the growth of seeds under different conditions.

In RE the children learnt about charities  ‘Christian aid’.
Next week the children will have a discussion on why we need rules and explore why do we need rules in school.

Hello all, we have had another busy productive week in Year 2.

In science, the children enjoyed planting their vegetable seeds and sunflower seeds. The children also drew and labelled the parts of plants and trees.
Next week, the children will role play and draw the life cycle of plants.

In English, the children created sentences with subordinate conjunctions and made a list of adjectives, nouns, adverbs and verbs. Together we completed a previous sats paper to practise.
Next week, the children will learn suffixes, prefixes and plurals.

In maths, the children completed numerous activities centred on fractions.
Next week, the children will be describing 2D and 3D shapes.

Spellings for next Friday are:
Group 1: toy, girl, play, drew.
Group 2: third, beam, knock, whole, game. Flight, glow, flute, brushes, reception, enjoyment, bleach, yourself, loudly, sky, my, phone, locked, kindness, auntie.
