Hello to all,

We have had a wonderful, busy sunny week. The children all enjoyed sports day especially the water activity and swimming on a skateboard. 

In English, the children learnt the myth of 'Pandora's Box' and wrote a letter to a friend on behalf of Pandora apologising for opening the box.
Next week, they will create and write their own myth story.

In maths, the children investigated addition, subtraction and multiplication strategies.
Next week, we will explore repeating patterns in shapes and play games to learn clockwise, anti-clockwise.

Next week

Science
To identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants.

History
To sequence Florence Nightingale's life on a timeline.

RE
Discuss the story of Diwali

Art
The children will choose a painting of Hokusai

Hello Year 2.

This week in English the children enjoyed creating their ending to the story of ‘The Boy with Wings’.
Next week, we will read the story of ‘Pandora’ and the children will write a letter from Pandora to a friend.

In maths they drew shapes and practised using a ruler by including the symmetrical lines.
Next week ,we will explore addition and subtraction along with checking the inverse and simplify addition using multiplication.

In science, when we had a dry afternoon! we walked around the wildlife area and the children completed a tally chart and pictogram of the mini-beasts they found. 
Next week, we will discuss and identify most living things that live in habitats to which they are suited.

In RE we discussed who made the world and we will continue this topic next week.

In PSHE, this week we have looked at life cycles and the stages of childhood.
Next week, we will be discussing the difference between girls and boys bodies. The children will learn the correct vocabulary for the body parts. If you do not want your child to take part in this lesson, please let me know and I can arrange for an alternative activity to be put in place.

In ICT, the children enjoyed using the iPads and recording each other.
Next week, they will be practising their keyboard skills and decoding.

On Thursday is sports day. KS1 will be taking place in the morning from 9.30 to approximately 11.00 o’clock. Please could your child bring in a hat and sun cream as the forecast is due to be sunny.

Rayyan’s Big Haircut – Please Donate. After 3 years of growing his hair Rayyan, a Year 6 child, will be having his hair cut at the Summer Fair (29th June). He will be donating the hair to the Little Princess Trust who will create wigs for children who are suffering from cancer. He is also hoping to raise money for Cancer Research to support their research into finding a cure to cancer. Good afternoon to all.

The children had a wonderful time at Manor Lodge watching Mary Poppins. A wonderful production and the year 2 were very well behaved, an asset to the school.

Congratulations to all children who took part in the school’s talent night. Little Heath really does have talent – I was told the evening was a hit with a special performance from the teachers. 

In English the children created their own explanation text centred on their chosen monster.
Next week, the children will be starting our topic on myths. We will discuss the meaning of myths and read the story of The Boy with Wings.

In maths the children enjoyed learning the properties, edges, vertices of various shapes.
Next week, the children will be linking symmetry to halving and creating their own symmetrical patterns and shapes.

Next week

History
The children will find out why Florence Nightingale went to Scutari.

Science 
The children will identify and name the mini-beasts and record information in a pictograph.

Art 
The children are enjoying learning about the Japanese artist Hokusai.

ICT
The children will finish their power points on monsters.

Hello Year two,

This week the children enjoyed reading about Monsters in English and recorded an explanation of the cat’s journey from the monster’s mouth to his stomach.

Next week, the children will select a monster and write their own explanation text on their owner’s guide on playing with pets including cleaning and taking care of them.

In maths the children created arrays on multiplication and division.
Next week, the children will learn the properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes along with identifying and classifying shapes into Venn and Carroll diagrams.

In history the children wrote notes on Florence Nightingale and next week they will write these into full sentences.

In D&T the children finished their moving vehicles and enjoyed having a race on the ramps in the foundation unit. Next week, will start our topic on the Japanese artist ‘Hokusai’.

In science the children explored and compared the differences between things that are living and dead. Next week, the children will identify and name a variety of plants and animals in their habitat.

On Tuesday the whole school is lucky to have a trip to Manor Lodge to watch a production during the morning.

On Thursday evening is the talent show, good luck to everyone who is attending.
