Friday 18 June 2021

Hello Year 2, where has the sun gone!

In science the children thoroughly enjoyed creating their bug hotels which they dispersed around both playgrounds. They were very sensible and explored habitats in the playground and wild life area using a magnifying glass. The children were very excited by the minibeasts that they found and completed a tally chart and pictogram survey. We explored outside during a sunny ,dry day and then a wet, damp day and compared our findings.

In English, the children wrote a fun explanation on how to look after a monster. They included conjunctions, adjectives and apostrophes in their writing.

In maths, the children enjoyed learning the names and properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

Next week

English - we will start our new topic on 'myths', we will look at the story of 'The boy with wings' and the children will create their own ending.

Maths - the children will look at symmetrical patterns and shapes.

Science - the children will find their bug hotels and check to see if any mini beasts have entered.

History - the children will research Mary Seacole

Art - the children will re-create 'The Great Wave' adding texture.

RE - we will discuss, who made the world?

Spellings for next Friday are:
