Hello,

We have had another very busy productive week in Year 2 and the time has flown by!

In English the children enjoyed performing Rapunzel and created detailed sentences including conjunctions and adjectives.
Next week, the children will write their own version of Rapunzel. The children will change the characters and setting along with including conjunctions and adjectives in their story.

In maths the children used a variety of resources and applied different strategies learnt to solve their sums. They particularly enjoyed explored odd and even numbers.
Next week, the children will be regrouping tens and ones using objects, tens frames and coins.

Next week

Science
We will be discussing natural materials and the children will walk around the school grounds collecting objects to create a collage.

History
Mr Berridge was unable to attend last week, therefore on Tuesday he will visit the class and discuss the history of the school.

RE
We will continue our lesson from last week on Christianity and the children will write in full sentences the meaning of the symbols including water and light.

Art
The children will create an observational drawing.

PSHE
The focus will be to work well and help others cooperatively.

ICT
Mathseeds and mathletics

Spellings for next Friday are:
Group 1: of, it, was, you.
Group 2: poor, floor, door, fine, mind, behind.

We will be attending two fun mornings next week,  
Tuesday morning a drama workshop will be in school.
Friday morning we are invited to Christchurch for Harvest Festival.

Good afternoon to all,

We have had another action-packed week with lots of fun activities.

In English the children enjoyed using their imagination creating their own list poem of
 ‘Ten things found in a Wizard’s pocket’.
Next week, we will start our topic on Traditional Tales. The children will compare the story of Rapunzel the original and modern version and make inferences.

In maths the children used a variety of resources and methods to solve sums on regrouping and counting on and back through 10.
Next week, the children will use 10 for adding 3 single digit numbers and will apply last weeks strategies learnt along with exploring odd and even numbers.

Next week

Science
The children will find out and experiment on how the shapes of solid objects made from some materials can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching.

History
Mr Berridge who attended Little Heath School will visit the class and talk about the history of the school.

Art
The children will draw in detail the original entrance to the school.

RE
The children will explore the Christian religious symbols.

Spellings for next Friday are:
Group 1 : said, in, he, I.
Group 2 : bear, bare, bee, be, whole, hole.

Hello, we have had a fun and busy week.

In English, the children created their own Autumn list poem.
Next week, the children will learn the poem ‘Ten things found in a Wizard’s pocket’ and create their own list poem.

In maths, the children learnt to regroup to 10 using addition and subtraction.
Next week, we will continue learning place value using a variety of equipment and add 3 single digit numbers together.

Next week

Science
We will identify and compare the suitability of a variety of everyday materials by exploring the purposes of different objects.

RE
The children will learn Hindu symbols including Diwali.

History
We will continue to learn what schooling was like when Little Heath school would have been built.

ICT
The children will develop their familiarity of the keyboard.

Spelling test will be on Friday mornings, the children can choose their group along with learning both groups if they want to.

Group 1 – the, and, a, to.
Group 2 – sea, see, blue, blew, flour, flower.

Hello and welcome Year 2,
The children have settled very quickly into the routine of the classroom.
Our focus this week was on 'waste aware' and the children have enjoyed creating their own story centred on the book ' Somebody swallowed Stanley' and Flotsam.
