Hello to all, and I hope everyone had a wonderful break.

The children have settled back quickly into their daily routine and they enjoyed writing about one of their favourite days during the Easter holiday.

Please see below an insight of the topics we will be covering next term.


In English, the children will complete the SATS 2022 paper. This will include 2 reading papers along with grammar, punctuation and spelling. Our topics we will also cover are instruction, poetry and report writing.

In maths, the children will complete the arithmetic and reasoning SATS papers 2022. Our topic is on fractions-finding halves, quarters and thirds of amounts, shapes and quantities and geometry, learning the properties of 2-D  and 3-D shape.

In science our topic is plants.

In history our topic is Florence Nightingale.

In RE we will start with showing care and concern. The children will be involved with discussion on how faith stories guide people and how we live together when we are all different.

In D&T our topic is mechanisms; wheels and axles. The children will create a moving vehicle.

In PSHE our topic is relationships. The children will discuss how to make friends, solve friendship problems and respect each other.

Next week

English and maths lessons will be centred on practising the 2019 SATS papers which the children will complete and as a class we will answer the questions to help prepare the children.

Science - the children will plant sunflowers

History - the children will find out who Florence Nightingale was and where she lived

PSHE - the children will discuss how to solve friendship problems when they occur

 D&T -  we will look at and discuss a variety of moving vehicles, the children will start to design their moving vehicle

  If you have any small cardboard boxes at home, please could your child bring them into school for their moving vehicle.

Spellings for next Friday are: 

Group 1 – by, day, made, time

Group 2 – bottle, muddle, little, tickle, apple, puddle

Group 3 – squirrel, parcel, angel
